Colchester Arts Centre
Sharing, discussion and exchange around four main themes:

  • Biomimetics: interactivity and digital growth processes
  • Global Systems: tracking, mapping and data collection
  • Nature Works: artworks and community in natural/rural environments
  • Future Buildings: technology developments and eco architecture.

These themes are reflected in the commissioned works and with guest artists involved in the discussion and debate within the working groups.

ECO-TECH NOTES: WORKING GROUPS

OPTION 1

14.00 | RAMBLE, THE CUCKOO WAY REVISITED
Roy Cleary/Masaki Fujihata

Local artist Roy Cleary, leads the interchange participants on an afternoon ramble. We will walk along the recently 'reclaimed' footpath to Cuckoo Farm Artists Studios on the outskirts of Colchester. Recommended clothing - waterproof coat, walking shoes!

  • International artist Masaki Fujihata will also demonstrate his GPS systems at 2pm at firstsite.
ECO-TECH ARTICLE: ECOTECH RAMBLE - Digital Art or Nice Country Walk?

AFTERNOON | EXHIBITION VISIT - gallery open until 5pm

Also an opportunity to visit the BIO-TECH and ECO-TECH Future Physical commissions at firstsite. An exhibition of Future Physical commissions ranging from virtual online environments to reactive objects around the themes of bio-technology and eco-technology.

Featuring works by Jane Prophet and Neil Theise, Stanza, Philip Warnell, Catherine Watling, Rachel Wingfield and Japanese new media artist, Masaki Fujihata.


20.00 | VISUALS / SOUNDS SHOWCASE
Colchester Arts Centre
An innovative evening of film, visuals and sound art featuring work by commissioned artist, Stanza and online virtual environment, Code Zebra moderated live by Sara Diamond with live chat room for remote participation.




The ECO-TECH Network Exchange is a co-production between Future Physical, Firstsite, Colchester Arts Centre and Signals Media Arts.

Future Physical is a cultural programme co-conceived by shinkansen and East England Arts, produced by Future Physical Ltd/shinkansen for East England Arts.
