Image 1: Visible Human Male/The Head from VOXEL-MAN.
http://www.uke.uni-hamburg.de/institute/imdm/idv/visible/visiblehuman_head.en.html

The Visible Human data set generated by the University of Colorado and the National Library of Medicine provides sets of highly detailed cross-sectional images of the human body, which perfectly fit to the VOXEL-MAN atlas framework.

The Visible Human Dataset contained the images of a 39-year old convicted murderer who, prior to his execution, donated his corpse to medical science. The dataset was subsequently expanded with the addition of the images of a female at greater resolution than for the male.

Image 2: Vervet Monkey Brain
http://www.crump.ucla.edu/crump/resprojects/microPET/fr_intro.html

The digital brain atlas of the vervet monkey was developed with images obtained by cryosectioning. The head was sectioned in the coronal plane and a digital image was taken every 300 microns. These images were aligned and placed together in a volume with 512 pixels representing 68.7 mm in all three dimensions.
