The Future Physical programme features two commissioned reactive objects.

Both have been constructed using cutting-edge, experimental technology. Although not truly interactive in terms of an ongoing dialogue between viewer/participant and installation, they react to environmental conditions to striking effect.

The Blanket Project

This Canadian artist will develop a tactile object which physically interacts with the audience. Resembling a blanket, the device will navigate through space seeking out individuals for intimate encounters.

Rachel Wingfield

Digital Dawn is a responsive window blind that illuminates in response to its surroundings. Wingfield, a young innovative textile artist who recently appeared on Tomorrow’s World has created a digital emulation of the process of photosynthesis using intelligent print with electronically conductive inks that emit light.
