Notes:
'Emoticons' or 'Smileys' are ASCII icons which have developed
into a rich language to convey emotions, characters and humour
within plain text documents. 'Smileys' are one of the earliest
features of email and the internet and this project seeks
to document and present a few outstand examples to encourage
people in their use. Research on the internet suggests smileys
were invented by Scott Fahlman around 1980 on a bulletin board
system. Most people tend to go for the easily reproducible
ones such as ;-) not many are aware of the sophisticated and
subtle Japanese 'sideways' smileys for example. The project
features 5 sets culled from literally zillions Bruno has collected
and collates them by rough 'genres'. Users can quickly navigate
through them and view them in a rotated text field instead
of having to twist their head. Clicking on the tile copies
the 'smiley' allowing users to past them into their text documents.
