DEVELOPERS' QUOTE
'Most new technology comes with a lengthy manual
but when art meets technology and due to the pioneering nature of
many interactive artworks, it can be difficult to explain what form
they will take, what they are designed to achieve and what sort of
experience they will offer. Artists and developers do not always
reach the potentials of their concepts for creative user
participation and many artists resist the use of information and
proper education programmes around their work, yet information and
instruction on new experiences and how to create is a public
requirement and subject to debate amongst artists. Future Physical
wants to improve the quality of the experience for the audience - to
generate a more profound interaction/creation experience. By
interacting with technology, human creativity is being enhanced.
There is a need to explore the needs, diversity and preference of
Creative Users - the new market for interactive digital art.'
- What
transforms audiences into interactors and creators?
- How can the
public best be supported in contributing to the content, meaning and
communicative purpose of artworks?
- How can artworks be improved to
offer a better user experience or generate a more profound
interaction/creation experience?
- What knowledge, tools, materials
and guidance do people need to play the role of a creative user
fully?
